So it went something like this So there were some digitally signed in drivers or whatever that means and I tried to install the drivers from them. Or I should uninstall the driver. Frank N St31n may very well be correct. You appear to have a computer that was built just as Windows 7 was being released, and although there are some Windows 7 drivers for it on the HP website, there is nothing that seems to be a serial port driver.
In general, it is not a good idea to download drivers from third-party websites because you have no way to determine if they are the correct driver or if they include malware. It appears, however, that whatever this device is, the driver you installed manually seems to have been accepted.
